Welcome to ComiXpress!

ComiXpress offices, located in Bergen County New Jersey, suffered minor structural damages in the wake of Hurricane Irene this Saturday and a loss of electrical power on Sunday. PSE&G (New Jersey’s electric company) has offered no estimate regarding when we can expect our power returned but we hope to be back up and knocking out the comics as soon as possible!

Thanks for your understanding as we deal with this,
The ComiXpress Team

UPDATE: Power has been restored to our offices as of Tuesday, August 30. We’re already tearing into the books, and appreciate your patience during this difficult time.

UPDATE 2, Thursday September 1st: Sporadic power outages have continued in our area since it was returned on Tuesday. We have been told that a permanent fix will be in place this weekend, and in the meantime we’ve been in full production mode as long as the lights are on! Again, our thanks for your continued patience.

I know this has been stated before, but it bears repeating from time to time: ComiXpress will not print material if the copyright or licensing of the book is in question. We are here to help indie and small press comic creators get their own original works into print; not to print copyrighted works when the person submitting that work isn’t the creator. If copyright or licensing is uncertain or there is any question in that regard, we will err on the side of caution and not print it.

Vark Thing!

Vark Thing!

Happy 2011 from your friends here at ComiXpress!

If you’re a fan of great indie comics, there’s  a dialogue going on between Dave Sim (Cerebus, Cerebus Archive, Glamourpuss, Judenhass) and Steve Bissette (Swamp Thing, Tyrant, Taboo) that you won’t want to miss.

CerebusTV.com is currently running two episodes featuring Bissette, and the conversation continues on Steve’s own blog at SRBissette.com. Dave’s original art for Vark Thing (shown above) is also up on eBay this week.

If you like looking under the hood of indie comics and seeing what makes the motor go, I can’t recommend it enough. Enjoy!

We wanted to let everyone know that Customer Service will be closed for the holidays starting Friday, December 24th and we’ll return on Monday, January 3rd. There will be a skeleton crew working like oppressed little elves to make sure any early January deadlines are still met.

We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a peaceful and healthy 2011!
