SUPER ORDINARY tells the story of Sam Reynolds a firefighter who volunteers for cleanup duty at ground zero. Sam and his fellow volunteers are exposed to some sort of strange chemical found in the waste which causes many of the volunteers to get sick and even some of them to die but for some reason the effects of the substance causes Sam to gain superpowers. After donning a mask and taking the name Mister Extraordinary Sam must learn to be a hero in a post 9/11 world where heroes are sorely needed.
In SUPER ORDINARY #1 Sam and his fellow firefighters witness the horror of 9/11 on television and rather than stand by and do nothing they decide to go to New York City to help any way they can.
